I am patient in long lines. I make room for people changing lanes on the freeway. I hold doors open for strangers. I smile genuinely at customer service agents, Wal*Mart employees, and police officers. I give second chances. I work hard. I love with intensity.
I don’t do these things for a reward. I do them because they are right. I have found that doing the right thing is often not advantageous, convenient, or popular. The rewards for negativity and selfishness are immediate.
I’m working very hard everyday for rewards that may be very far off. There is no guage to let me know when to expect the payoff for my work- but I know that it’s coming. It has to. It’s called Karma. The New Radicals say, “you only get what you give”, and John Mayer says, “I believe that my life’s gonna see the love I give return to me”, and if you’re looking for someone with a little more authority, Alma states, “For that which ye do send out shall return unto you again, and be restored”. (Alma 41:15)
I fully expect to see the love I give return to me. In armfulls.
