Tonight the whole Hawker family was together! This is really outstanding news since there are three new members to our family since our last gathering. Samantha and Abraham were born, and Ashley agreed to marry (although not “officailly” yet, although she’s wearing a ring!) my strange brother Stephen. It is great to be together. It is incredible to sit out with them on the back porch and watch the thunder and lightening. I’ve just returned from San Diego, job hunting, and once again question the practicality of moving there. No, that’s not it. I know that it’s not practical- but that doesn’t deter me as much of the thought of being so far away from my family. I feel better when I know that they are close by. They make me laugh. They give me ample opportunity to hug, and share, and bake cookies- all things that I love to do. I sat by myself at Ocean Beach today, eating a parfait and watching the surfers. It was wonderful and restful and I enjoyed it so much, but it was better to sit tonight on the back porch with my family taunting one another in turn. I have the best family. =) What good is some random So-Cal beach if I’m 2500 miles away from the people that make me smile? The other half of the argument goes like this: life is change. I can’t (or maybe I should say won’t) live with my parents forever. I can’t live my adventures and gain the experiences I want to without being away from people that I adore.
