My web hosting company, globat, was down almost the entire day yesterday, and it looks like it’s intermitant today. I’m up for renewal in April and was already considering switching to another host (someone who doesn’t charge my credit card automatically if I don’t opt-out of their e-mail upgrades) but it’s sort of scary! I get used to things and I don’t always like change. I still have the checking account that I opened with my Dad as the co-signer when I was 16, simply because I know how to use it so well. I have the account numbers memorized, as well as the customer support number, and I know where all of the local branches are….my direct deposits and withdrawals are all in place…I just don’t want to have to upset my financial life like that.
In the same way, I don’t want to have to learn a new system to manage my site. It feels good to be proficient in something. =) I’m also looking at switching from movable type to wordpress software for my blog as well.
Maybe I should just shock my system, and do it all at the same time? I mean…you have to clean out the fridge, or get a new car, or get married and move to Florida sometime, right? Change is a part of life, and the sooner I can start learning the new thing, the sooner I can feel proficient in it.
